When to go? There is no true off season In Botswana.
Dry Season (May to October) – Best for Safaris
Why go: Wildlife is easier to spot as animals gather around water sources and vegetation is thinner.
Highlights: Peak game viewing in Chobe, Okavango Delta, and Moremi.
Weather: Sunny, dry days and cool nights—ideal conditions.
Bonus: June to August has fewer mosquitoes.
Note: July to October is high season, so book early and expect higher prices.
Green Season (November to April) – Lush & Less Crowded
Why go: Landscapes are stunningly green, birdwatching is fantastic, and it’s birthing season for many animals.
Pros: Fewer tourists, lower prices, and dramatic skies.
Cons: Harder to spot wildlife, especially in thick vegetation. Some remote areas may be inaccessible due to flooding.
Special Mention: Okavango Delta Flood (June–August)
Even though this is the dry season for most of Botswana, the Delta floods from June to August, offering incredible water-based safari experiences by mokoro (dugout canoe).
Our hidden gem – Linyanti.
The crowds flock to the Okavango Delta but we think Linyanti is the place not to be missed. Linyanti is a remote and exclusive wilderness area in northern Botswana, known for its pristine landscapes and rich biodiversity. It’s a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, offering incredible sightings of elephants, predators like lions and wild dogs, and a variety of bird species along the lush riverbanks. With fewer crowds and intimate safari camps, Linyanti delivers a truly off-the-beaten-path safari experience.
